Best Means and Time to Contact You
Once we receive your letter of interest, resume, references and photo, we'll respond promptly with confirmation of receipt and your status within our application process. Our goal is to find the best staff available to maintain the high quality of our programs.
We look forward to hearing from you!
The Process
Each season we receive an abundance of applications to become part of our staff. We review every application and resume and we call every reference for candidates under strong consideration.
Our application process in ongoing, so we are always accepting applications. The hiring season does not officially get underway until October when we begin reviewing applications. In November we begin holding personal interviews so we truly can make the best choices. These are the options for meeting:
1) You visit our administrative office in Northport, Long Island, NY
2) We travel to a central location where we can meet with other applicants as well
3) A senior member of our staff interviews you at a location near you and we will follow up with a phone interview
4) We use a Skype Video connection
We hire staff members all the way through the spring. Mike Liese, our Founder and Director, will be part of the process in all cases. The time frame between the interview and hiring is typically 2-8 weeks, though there are occasional exceptions. We will maintain contact with you throughout the process.
Compensation
Sail Caribbean staff members are paid at a competitive weekly salary rate that is commensurate with experience. In addition to your salary, compensation includes room and board, staff apparel, and travel reimbursement. First year staff members are not paid during the period of staff training. Returning staff have significant opportunities for leadership roles.
