A new day. A new adventure! And you can't wait to get rolling! Today you're following in the footsteps of marine scientists from around the globe and identifying colorful endangered reef fish. Later, local scientists will teach you and your friends from Tortola how to collect important data on beach erosion for the UNESCO Sandwatch program. The day doesn't end there – there's still plenty of time for waterskiing, wakeboarding and tubing.  And to think you were going to stay home this summer?!

During your 14-day voyage you'll discover just how wonderful and varied the marine environment can be. Your home and floating laboratory is a catamaran, a style of boat that can get up close to the most spectacular sites in the BVI. You and your crew will sail from location to stunning location, studying the marine life, getting to know the local culture, and having fun along the way.

After more than 28 years working in the BVI, we're proud of our strong links with the local community.  On Foxtrot Junior, you'll join other 12 to 14-year olds from Tortola's Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) and learn, work and play together. These students share the same passion for science and the environment, and like having fun just as much as you do! You're sure to form lifelong friendships, plus you'll leave the BVI knowing you've played a positive role in preserving this natural wonder.

Itinerary
Since we're focusing on marine science projects and cultural exploration, your destinations will have built-in opportunities to meet those goals. During the week, you’ll meet up with twelve students, ages 12-14, from Tortola's Youth Empowerment Project. Together you’ll visit endangered reefs and beaches to do fish counts and measure beach erosion. After your projects, there will be ample time for beach and watersports fun! See a sample Itinerary

Learning
The Foxtrot Junior program is your opportunity to have hands-on interaction with the "rainforest of the sea" and make a difference by helping to preserve the life of the ocean. You will learn proper snorkeling techniques and use your new skills during environmental service projects. You'll learn to monitor beach erosion and identify the amazing variety of fish, sponges and coral. You'll also make new friends and become a sailor too, sharing responsibilities aboard your boat and rotating positions to take charge as Skipper of the Day, Mate, Cook and Navigator. Give Back
You’ll earn 10-15 community service hours by teaming up with your counterparts from YEP on environmental service projects. YEP is a non-profit after-school and summer program that provides activities for neighborhood youth. You'll work closely with these Tortolan students on projects that will have a lasting impact on the local environment. You'll also spend time enjoying Tortola's incredible beaches and island culture with your Sail Caribbean crewmates, and often together with your new YEP friends. Learn more about Community Service

Activities
It's not all work though.  You'll take time to waterski, wakeboard, and sail small boats. Some nights will find you in a peaceful anchorage, reflecting on the day's discoveries with your crewmates, and other nights will find you dancing to the beats of DJ Heavy B. Your friends from YEP will give you an insider's view of the BVI – you'll learn to play cricket, enjoy local foods and more!  Learn more about Activities
