Activities

The BVI and Leeward Islands will challenge you to raise your sailing skills to new levels on this unique outdoor adventure education program. You'll develop the judgment necessary to get you and your crew safely from port to port. You'll also take part in emergency drills which teach you to manage unexpected incidents calmly and logically, sending your confidence soaring.

Becoming a good leader means knowing when your team needs time to relax and regroup, too. We're in a tropical paradise, so there'll be ample time to explore the islands with your crew. You can do so by dinghy, with a mask and snorkel, or by simply heading out to hike, meet the locals, and wander barefoot along beautiful beaches.

Watersports

Snorkeling

Watch from the surface as the undersea world shimmers with action. Stingrays, pufferfish, whooshing schools of silversides, and even the odd diving pelican make appearances.

Small Boat Sailing

Less is more, so trade your yacht for a sailing dinghy and get even closer to the water. Try a Laser, Hobie Cat, Vanguard 15, Hunter 216, or J-24.

Blue Water Sailing

Blue water sailing is an integral part of our Echo Leadership & Sailing Expeditions. The phrase itself refers to long-distance sailing in the open ocean, sometimes out of sight of land. The Leeward Islands present the perfect opportunity to share our knowledge of safe passagemaking and build on your basic seamanship skills. We focus on equipment checks, communication with the fleet, weather updates, emergency procedures, and navigational skills. On our two overnight passages, it's an amazing experience to be standing watch as the sun rises on the distant horizon ahead. Making landfall may be your immediate reward, but the memory of the challenges you faced and the successes you had during this journey is sure to last. Learn more about Sailing & Seamanship...

Community Service

All students participate in community service activities (approximately 5 hours) during the Echo programs. We'll work with local organizations for youth outreach, clean up beaches, and help preserve the unspoiled character of the BVI and Leeward Islands. Learn more about Community Service...
