Many students are happy with Tango's regular marine science and cultural exchange activities. For those students seeking that extra challenge, Tango offers two optional courses in scuba diving. These optional courses may have limited enrollment and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Please call for details.

Scuba Options

There are plenty of opportunities at our summer community service camps to explore the BVI's incredible marine life with a mask, fin and snorkel. But, you can take your adventure a little deeper by selecting our Discover Scuba course. If you're already certified, you can explore the underwater world further with a two-tank dive.

Discover Scuba

Want to dip your toe into the world of scuba diving without plunging into a full certification program? Our Discover Scuba course is the perfect place to take your first underwater breaths. You'll learn diving safely and slowly as our expert staff demonstrates safety essentials and equipment use. Once you're comfortable with the concepts, you'll practice your new skills starting in waist-deep water off the beach, then glide gradually into deeper water. Your Discover Scuba course culminates in your first supervised open water dive in 20-40 feet of crystal-clear tropical water. Learn more about Discover Scuba

Open Water Diver

Become a certified diver with the most widely recognized rating in the world. The PADI Open Water (OW) certification requires 25 to 30 hours of class instruction, work in shallow water, exams, and open water dives. You'll complete the PADI Open Water online portion at home before your program begins through PADI's e-learning course. This way you'll complete the required knowledge prior to arrival so you can have a quick review and jump right in at the program start. After earning your OW certification, you can go on to earn your Advanced Open Water (AOW) certification or enjoy recreational dives during the remainder of your program. Note: There is no additional fee for AOW  or Recreational Diving when you sign up for Open Water Diver

Advanced Open Water Diver

If you are already an Open Water Diver before coming to the program, you can go to the next level and earn Advanced Open Water (AOW) Diver certification during our Tango program plus enjoy recreational diving. During the course you will complete interesting and informative knowledge reviews along with navigation, night and deep dives, plus two other dives of your choice in assorted specialty areas for a total of five dives.

$225 Course Fee  (4-8 dives)

Recreational Diving

For certified divers

Ever imagine diving on a Coral Garden, drifting through a Rainbow Canyon or diving on a world famous wreck? If you're already certified, you can add a 2-tank dive to your Tango experience. You'll visit one of the BVI's beautiful dive sites, such as the Wreck of the Rhone or Coral Gardens. You must bring proof of certification from a recognized agency, such as PADI, NAUI, YMCA, NASDS.
