Many students are happy with the regular program activities on our teen sailing camps including large boat sailing, dinghy sailing, waterskiing, wakeboarding, tubing, snorkeling, community service, marine biology seminars, kayaking, windsurfing, sailing clinics, hiking, island exploration, and beach sports. For those students seeking that extra challenge, Bravo sailing, scuba and watersports adventures offer several optional courses. Certain optional courses have limited enrollment and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Some optional courses require additional fees and cannot be combined on certain programs. Lifeguarding
Offered on Early Bravo and Bravo 1
($90 additional)
Learn the American Red Cross lifeguard techniques that will qualify you to work as a professional. We'll take you through 25 hours of instruction in lifeguarding techniques, including towing and carrying a victim to safety, managing a spinal injury in the water, and using rescue equipment to help a distressed or drowning victim. You must be at least 15 years old and have proof of current certification in American Red Cross CPR for Professional Rescuer, as well as in First Aid Basics. Basic Keelboat Certification
Offered on Early Bravo, Bravo 1, 2 & 3

If you're arriving at Sail Caribbean with prior sailing experience, why not take this opportunity to gain a nationally recognized certification from US Sailing or the American Sailing Association? You'll participate in seminars, then demonstrate your sailing and seamanship skills during two intensive days on Rhodes 19s. Discover Scuba
Offered on on Early Bravo, Bravo 1, 2 & 3

Want to dip your toe into the world of scuba diving without plunging into a full certification program? Our Discover Scuba (DSD) course is the perfect place to take your first underwater breaths. You'll learn diving safely and slowly as our expert staff demonstrates safety essentials and equipment use. Once you're comfortable with the basics, you'll start in waist-deep water off the beach, and then glide gradually into 20-30 feet of crystal-clear tropical water. You'll then enjoy your first open water dives, supervised by our expert dive instructors. DSD on Early Bravo and Bravo 1, 2 & 3 includes basic instruction, and 2-3 supervised open water dives. Recreational Diving

Ever imagine diving on a Coral Garden or drifting through a Rainbow Canyon? Certified divers on Early Bravo OW & Scuba and Bravo 1, 2 & 3 OW & Scuba can enjoy 6-18 recreational dives (amount dependent on program length) in the BVI with our own Sail Caribbean Divers. Open Water Diver

Become a certified diver with the most widely recognized rating in the world. The PADI Open Water (OW) certification requires 25 to 30 hours of class instruction, work in shallow water, exams, and open-water dives. You'll complete the PADI Open Water online portion at home and receive other materials before your program begins, so you can complete the required knowledge prior to arrival. After earning your OW certification, you can continue your dive education to earn your Adavnced Open Water Diver certification and dive specialties, or use your skills to enjoy recreational dives during the remainder of your program. Advanced Open Water Diver
Offered on Early Bravo OW & Scuba and Bravo 1, 2 & 3 OW & Scuba for certified divers

Open Water Divers can go to the next level to earn their Advanced Open Water (AOW) Diver certification during our OW & Scuba programs and then can continue on to specialty certifications and enjoy recreational diving. Prior to your arrival in the islands, we send a PADI textbook so you can prepare for the course. During the course you will complete interesting and informative knowledge reviews along with navigation, night and deep dives, plus two other dives of your choice in assorted specialty areas for a total of five dives. (standard tuition includes AOW, specialties and recreational diving on Early Bravo OW & Scuba and Bravo 1, 2 & 3 OW & Scuba.) Learn more about the Advanced Open Water certification
Dive Specialties
Offered on Early Bravo OW & Scuba, Bravo 1, 2 & 3 OW & Scuba for certified divers
While enjoying recreational diving as a part of the Early Bravo or Bravo OW & Scuba programs, students are also be able to earn dive specialty certifications. There are many specialties available with Sail Caribbean, however particular specialties offered will depend on the diving schedule. Here are some examples of the specialties that are available:
National Geographic Diver is available to beginning divers in conjunction with the Open Water certification, and to certified divers as a specialty. It consists of 1 or 2 dives that focus on buoyancy control, fish identification, navigation, and an exploration project (a sketch, graph, photo-essay or video).
Peak Performance Buoyancy is a two-dive specialty focusing strictly on improving buoyancy and decreasing air consumption, resulting in better control and more enjoyment of the underwater environment.
RMS Rhone Diver - For certified divers 15 years or older, the "RMS Rhone Diver Specialty", a PADI Distinctive Specialty, is exclusively available at Sail Caribbean. Taking part in this unique certification will educate you on the history and tragic events that surround the RMS Rhone, sunk in 1867 and recently voted #1 wreck dive in the Caribbean by Sport Diver Magazine.
