Alpha 1 Day 9: Anegada to Mountain Point

Words cannot describe the array of colors that staggered themselves over the reef that surrounded us. It was as if it was colored by the hands of a toddler, creative mind going absolutely bonkers with the blue spectrum from a box of colored pencils. Crepuscular rays of light fell down through the clouds and highlighted strips of turquoise blue against the darker sapphire wrapped around it.

We raised sails under the sun, again cupping the wind at a spectacular beam reach that carried us all the way to Mountain Point. Our arrival was announced by the familiar sound of metal links being passed through the bow. This time our anchor split the smooth blue surface of the water, bringing itself to rest buried in the sandy bottom.

Almost as soon as our boats had straightened themselves in the wind, the dive boats pulled up to collect the newly certified open water divers for their two fun dives of the afternoon. While they dove around the Dog Islands, winding through underwater canyons and circling pinnacles, the rest of the crew hopped onto Galilee and motored over to the other side of the Dog Islands for a fun group snorkel.

At the end of the day, we all came back together, as we always do, and enjoyed watching the sun set itself to bed from one of the best sunset places in the whole of the BVI, on anchor at Mountain Point.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
