Alpha 1 & Tango 1: Day 4 – Cane Garden Bay

Day 4

The day started at 7 am with a delicious breakfast of French toast. By 9 am students were getting excited for “Arter’s Caribbean Electric Challenge” which was a series of socially distant tasks. Some of these challenges included dressing up their captain and mate, solving sea riddles and creating a synchronized jump off the boat. One of the most entertaining challenges was seeing how many life jackets each boat could fit on one person (check out the pics below!). Other boats staying in Diamond Cay were definitely entertained as each boat’s dingy, filled with laughing students, went back and forth to the staff boat to compete.

After the best morning of hilarious challenges and a bit of friendly competition, students sailed to Cane Garden Bay. During the sail, they continued to work on tacking and reviewing the points of sail. Once in Cane Garden Bay, students had boat showers and many of the boats played Pirates, the Sail Caribbean version of the game mafia. With bellies full of lemon pasta with chicken and peas, boat meetings commenced. Since the students have been together for a few days, the boat meetings consisted of deeper conversations, facilitated by counselors. These conversations allowed everyone to open up and learn more about their fellow crew members.

The weather was sunny and windy, perfect for a day on the water! The night was calm and when all was still, Cane Garden Bay was greeted by a few dolphins swimming around the boats.
