A windy night on anchor at Salt for the Alpha fleet last night, but we awoke and enjoyed a ‘Breakfast Buffet’ before relishing in the fact that it was Race Day! All were excited and eager to get boats ready, drop anchor and head for the start line! Action stations – 3 monohulls and 1 catamaran fought for the best line through the start line, Vieques (Tango) was hot off the start line and took the lead early on. Unfortunately, all the monohulls of the Alpha fleet were smoked early on.

After our race to Long Bay, Beef Island, we dropped anchor and enjoyed a lunch of chicken Caesar wraps on board. Next up, it was time to head ashore for the mighty Olympic Games….. competitions like ‘Dizzy Fender’, ‘Bury your Captain’, ‘Synchronized Swimming’ and ‘Tug of War’. All the mighty Alphanites showed bravery and determination during the Olympic events.

We topped off our evening with a beach barbecue ashore for dinner and then a habitual night on board followed by power down, as we all slept very well under the stars.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
