Generally speaking, waking up in a different place than in the one you went to sleep in can be unnerving. Like when you fall asleep with your head at one side of the bed, and wake up in the morning at the other end. It can be confusing! Today, however, our students got to experience the perks of that phenomenon. Staff woke up with the sunrise and steered the boats to Bitter End Yacht Club while all the students slept soundly below. So when they woke up and peeked their heads up out of their hatches, they saw a new bay, adorned with a new assortment of boats against a different horizon.

When we spend a day at the Bitter End, we spend a whole day doing all types of activities. Here, students have the freedom to roam by foot or by sail at their own leisure. They get to enjoy the shops, ice cream, and pizza on shore. They all get to take small boats out and sail them for themselves around the protected bay. This is also a day full of watersports and the infamous Poparazzi tube.

By the end of the day, we are all sun-kissed and tired, but not too tired to end the night with the traditional CHILI COOK OFF! Each boat puts together a theme for the evening, decorating their boats accordingly and preparing their absolute best chili that they can muster. Presenting and serving their creations to members of the staff dressed in disguise as guests to Sail Caribbean.

This was a day full of activity and wrapped up in ties of laughter and celebration.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
