Today, we woke up early for our last day diving! As the divers headed out the non-divers prepared the boat to dedock. The Alpha boats swapped students for the sail for new experiences and the students learned the rules of right of way while sailing to Long Bay, Beef Island. Meanwhile, the newly certified divers (and the previously certified divers) headed out to dive a sunken airplane at the Dogs as well as Bronco Billy, a beautiful reef at the Dogs. The dive highlights were most certainly the swim through of the airplane and the big nurse shark they were greeted by.

After the dive, all the Alpha students returned to their boats at Long Bay for lunch. After lunch, the students headed to the beach for YEP (Youth Empowerment Program) day. YEP is a program run for the local kids of Tortola, who we work with while gaining community service hours. The Sail Caribbean students engage with the YEP kids while stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, sailing on Picos, swimming and playing beach games. We spent many hours making new friends before we all reconvened at a beach BBQ on shore, put on by our office and operations staff members.

After dinner, we headed back to boats to take our Sail Caribbean crew tests, complete evaluations and write letters to self, that we will receive at Christmas time!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
