Alpha 3 & Tango 3: Day 12 – Long Bay BBQ

By wpdev August 8, 2021

Day 12

Challenge Day, Long Bay BBQ and SC Olympics all in one day!

The students woke up and took full control of the boat. After docking and de-docking at Village Cay, the boats sailed to Long Bay Beach. Since it was Challange Day the boats raced and the competition was fierce! In the end, Stella (formerly known as Great Catsby) took the win.

After lunch, the students went ashore with their team flags flying high. The first event was the dizzy fender relay race. Students had to race down the beach in fins, spin around a fender five times and run back to tag the next person. Next up was the tug-of-war where Kajsa put up a strong fight to take the lead. They are the oldest boat but we are still proud of them. The final challenge was a sandcastle building contest, with a twist. Students had to run and capture one of their counselors and build a sand sculpture on top of them.

The rest of the afternoon was spent sailing on the Colgates and Hobie Cats, tubing on the hot dog tube and playing volleyball. Dinner was a classic BBQ. Everyone headed back to the boats after eating and got ready for bed after an activity-filled day.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
