Alpha and Tango 2: Day 12 – Long Bay

Sleeping in until 8:30 offered a full night’s sleep in order to prepare us for a long day at Long Bay (Beef Island). Breakfast of pancakes fueled us for the sail from Anegada. Weather was a little stormy but cleared up once we neared Scrub Island. We practiced anchoring, used our leftovers and got creative with the remainder of our provisioning for lunch, and played warmup music to get hype for the Olympics.

Decked out in colorful zinc, boats headed ashore and got started on games of Dizzy Fender, synchronized swimming, sand art (after hide and seek of your staff member), and tug-of-war.

Following the completion of the games, campers had opportunities to go tubing, take the Hobie cats out, play beach volleyball, and complete their ASA practicals. At the same time, staff were heating up the grills for the cookout.

Just before dusk, everyone headed back to boats to shower, finish chores, and have a boat meeting to round out the day.

Poseidon has blessed us with a good day’s sail and fair winds!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
