Today we woke up at 8:00 am and made a breakfast buffet with cereal and bagels. At 9:00am open water divers went to shore to start completing their certification. Non-diving students motored to Salt Island and learned how to anchor. All non-diving students shuttled to shore to hike to the top of Salt Island and were taught a lesson about the RMS Rhône and the history of Salt Island. When students arrived back to home boats they made lunch and worked together to clean the boat before heading ashore at the Copper Island Beach Club. At Cooper Island Beach Club, students purchased ice cream and went shopping as well as played lacrosse on the beach. American Sailing Certification students began their practical course by practicing racing and jibing in the 26 foot Colgate’s. At 4:00, open water divers returned and all students went to their home boats for showers. Dinner and boat meeting commenced shortly after. It was a lovely day and everyone had a blast.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
