Today was both exciting and relaxing for all of the students. We spent the entire day at Bitter End Yacht Club on Virgin Gorda, and they couldn’t talk enough about how fun it was. We started off the day with breakfast on the boat, and then headed to shore for a nice hike up Guy’s Trail to get a little exercise and amazing vistas.

Following the summit, all of the students were free to sign up for activities from noon to 4pm, or they could choose to relax on the beach or head to the shops and restaurant. They were able to sail Hobie cats, go windsurfing, go tubing on Sail Caribbean’s infamous Poparazzi tube, and go water skiing and wake boarding.

When we went back to boats around 4p.m., we showered and got ready for Chili Cook Off! The kids had so much fun with it and tapped into their creative sides. They had to decorate the entire boat and come up with a skit and theme to welcome our friends the traveling Chileans to our boat, along with cook a delicious chili dinner judged by the guests themselves. It was very festive and exciting for everyone! Tomorrow we’re heading to Long Bay for a beach day and time volunteering with the YEP kids, everyone is very excited to hang out with the local kids and show them what they’ve learned so far on program. Life is good here in the Caribbean!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
