Alpha 2 & Tango 2: Day 5 – Mountain Point

By wpdev July 17, 2021

Day 5

The boats were up and motoring to Long Bay by 8 am for a morning of water sports. Students hopped on the tubes and zoomed all around the bay! After a morning of thrills and laughter, the fleet headed to Scrub Island to complete their first docking and water-up.

After de-docking the sails were raised and the fleet was off to Mountain Point. Today was a longer sail since Mountain Point is located off of Virgin Gorda. Once anchored, some of the students went on the Colgate and were able to get a better feel for sailing.

The day concluded with a delicious dinner and boat meetings. Each boat completed a Full Value Contract which is an agreement between all of the students on how they want their boat to operate during the program. The contacts often include principles of kindness and open communication.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
