Alpha 3 & Tango 3: Day 9 – Cooper Island

By wpdev August 3, 2021

Day 9

The students spent another day at Cooper Island in order for our open water divers to meet up with Sail Caribbean Divers. Our non-divers headed to Salt Island for a hike. The hike ended at a scenic lookout where the students heard the story of The Rhone, a popular Caribbean wreck dive site. After the hike, students had a chance to swim around to the other boats and each lunch.

A group of students went for a mid-afternoon snorkel at Cistern Rock. Before heading out, students were given a fish identification lesson so that they could report back on which fish they saw. The exciting find of the day was a flounder!

Tonight’s dinner was chicken curry. Kajsa decided to host a fancy dinner party on their boat. Students dressed nicely and made a charcuterie board to start them off. Overall the day was spent in the water. Students were constantly swimming from boat to boat, jumping off the bow and hanging out on the paddleboards. It was nice to see all of the different boats and students getting along and becoming close with one another.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
