This morning, our students woke up on the docks at Nanny Cay on Tortola. While crews aboard I Am Free and Spyglass had buffet breakfast on their boats, Venture brought their meal to the beach to celebrate a crew member’s birthday! While breakfast clean began, Rescue Divers were picked up for a morning dive.

Remaining crew members got started on pre-departure checks and readied the boat for dedocking. With all three boats off docks, our fleet headed west around the coast of Tortola, picking up mooring balls at Soper’s Hole. Right away, we began preparing a lunch of Mac and cheese with sausage. With all our crews fed, staff took all non divers over to Spyglass for a Foxtrot and Sierra marine biology lesson on invertebrates. The lesson was followed by a lionfish discussion and dissection! We then all headed to shore as a group to explore the shops and restaurants at Soper’s.

As the afternoon came to a close, we shuttled back to our boats for a dinner of bacon wrapped chicken and veggies. We concluded our evenings with boat meetings and some time to relax onboard before heading off to bed.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
