Alpha 4, Charlie 3, Foxtrot 3 & Sierra 3: Day 7 – Leverick Bay

By wpdev August 17, 2021

Day 7

The fleet de-docked from Nanny Cay in the morning and had a beautiful sail to Leverick Bay. The sail took the majority of the day. Captains and mates reviewed points of sail and gave a tacking and jibing lesson. On the way over the boats played hydration games and discussed the importance of drinking water, especially while in the BVI.

Around lunchtime, the fleet stopped at The Dogs for a snorkel. The Dogs are a series of small islands that are known for their diverse marine wildlife. The students had the unique privilege of swimming with an octopus!

Boats arrived at Leverick Bay around 5 pm. Students spent the rest of the evening hanging out, making friendship bracelets and playing cards. This was the first long sail day since the fleet is making its way to Anegada.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
