Mate: Ethan O.
Navigator: Cambell
Today we woke up early in the morning to a rain shower. Once we had breakfast we were ready to start our first full day! We learned about everything about our boat from how to raise the sail to how to talk on the VHF.DSC_2014

We then went to the Dive shop to get some snorkel gear and get the divers all the things they needed. After that we prepped for lunch and learned about de-docking the boat. Once our de-dock talk was finished, we finally got to de-dock the boat. Once we were out in Sir Francis Drake Channel we put our sails up for the first time. On our sail over to Cooper Island, we learned about tacking, how to raise and lower both sails, and how to tie a bowline.

When we got close to Cooper, we learned how to moor. Once on the mooring ball we finally got to jump in the water! We saw a turtle and a sting ray! Then we got to swim ashore and get some ice cream. We also went on kayaks and stand up paddle boards!

After that we went back to boats and took our first ocean shower! Mo and Zack prepared our first boat dinner. After dinner clean up we had a boat meeting and discussed our highs and lows of the day. We spent the night bonding over card games!

Miracle moment: getting our sail up

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
