Everyone was wide awake this morning, ready for a full day of adventures.  After a lovely breakfast, our crew ran through an introduction to the boat, a meeting with Mike, Sail Caribbean’s Founder and Director, to pump us all up for our grand departure, and a quick stop at the Sail Caribbean Divers’ dive shop.  With ease, the new skipper of the day and the crew executed their first de-docking maneuver and set off onto the Sir Francis Drake Channel. What a breath of fresh air to be off docks and on the water!

We hoisted the main sail with strength and unfurled our jib with ease. Every crew member got to take a turn at the helm to feel how their new yacht felt as we sailed over to Cooper Island Beach Club.  Once at our day’s destination and after everyone had a jump into the ocean to cool off, our crew ventured to shore for scuba diving, swimming, snorkeling and sea kayaking.  Following a few hours of fun and a load of activities, we all returned to our new seafaring homes for our first boat showers and dinner at sea.  The crew came together at the end of the day to share some Oreos as well as their highs and lows of the day.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
