Early Alpha Day 5: From The Folks of Monet

By wpdev June 12, 2014

Today we motored to Sandy Cay at 6:45 in the morning and arrived just after 7. Then we got some breakfast and swam to shore. We played in the water and hiked the incredible island of Sandy Cay.

After exploring, we swam back to our boats and got ready to sail to Cane Garden Bay, on the north side of Tortola. When we were sailing, we practiced some man overboard drills with a bucket and fenders tied together!

We arrived at Cane Garden Bay and ate a delicious lunch. We went to a local school for some community service where we began our work! We were painting tires, fixing their playground, painting the classrooms, and sanding down furniture for their library.

The kids at the school were so excited to see us and to see what we were doing for them.

After helping at the school and playing with the students, we went across the street for some ice cream and headed back to boats for some well needed showers and dinner!!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
