Sierra and Foxtrot – Day 2

By wpdev July 15, 2014

Day 2:

Captain of the Day on Samba: Ava

Mate: Reagan

Hodges Creek to Great Harbor

We woke up an hour early and had breakfast. Then we played several rounds of cards, including spoons and slap. Will, our Captain, and Lindley, our Mate, gave us a tour of the boat and soon after that we had a de-docking lesson. Samba de-docked and on our sail we got both of our sails up! Finally we got to Great Harbor and were able to swim in the water after we took a swim test. We took ocean showers and had burritos for dinner. Finally Sammy, the last member of our crew arrived and we had our first full boat meeting.

Today we covered de-docking and mooring, we did a great job of getting the sails up, and we need to work on communication. The Miracle moment of the day was finally getting in the water!!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
