Today was Challenge Day!!! It is a day where the kids take full control over the boat to show our Captain and Mate what we have learned so far. We had to wake up at 6:15a.m. for a 6:30a.m. leadership meeting. But… we slept through our alarm and at 6:32 we ran to our Captain and Mate to dingy us to the meeting! We got to Venture, the staff boat, for our meeting. We talked about where we would be heading today and our roles and duties for the day.

Once we were done, we went back to Miss You and ate breakfast. Everyone then got into positions and raised the anchor all by themselves! We motored to more open space and raised our main sail and then unfurled our job. We sailed for a couple hours then took our sails down as we were going through the Guana Cut. The whole crew worked so well together! Plus, there was a lot of focus and consideration on lots of hydration and sunscreen without any word from the staff.

We picked up a mooring ball at Trellis Bay and some of our crew left to go diving while others went to shore. Our divers headed for a dive at Diamond Reef which was extremely beautiful! The rest of our kids enjoyed shore time as they got to explore the local market and Aragorn’s local art studio.

Later, we all reconvened after our afternoon of activity and made dinner together — barbecue chicken! Extremely yummy all around. We all had an enthusiastic boat meeting and discussed how Challenge Day went. We snuck in a bedtime snack while we played some games a little later into the evening and then as our eyes became heavy, we headed to bed in anticipation for another great day in the Caribbean.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
