As there would not be any diving this morning, the day began with excitement for the whole crew to be together for the sail to Great Harbour! Students used their newfound appreciated for lines, winching, tacking, navigating and everything in between to make their way to the destination for the day.

After arriving to Great Harbour and eating a lunch of hearty, customized grilled cheeses, everyone hung out with members of the Alpha fleet including lots of water sports, tubing, and a fun cannonball contest. Everyone really enjoyed getting to know new members of the fleet and playing in the water for the afternoon.

After an afternoon of activity, it was time to shower and begin dinner preparation. We enjoyed our meal together as a family, and followed up the course with a boat meeting. At tonight’s meeting, we completed our ‘Full Value Contract’ which highlights what our crew wants on and off the boat, such as ‘respect’ on the boat and ‘sand’ and ‘exclusion’ off the boat. It wasn’t long before power down came and sleep called us all to our sleeping quarters after such a great day.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
