Bravo 1 & Charlie 1 Day 11: 7 New ASA 101 Basic Keelboat Certified students!

This morning, we awoke well-rested after a good night’s sleep and were ready to greet the day. We got things started off with a breakfast of french toast and fruit so that we were well nourished and energized. Following breakfast, we moved the boats across the channel to Marina Cay for the remainder of the morning. Once we had arrived at Marina, we spent some time relaxing on the boats and floating on fenders tied off on the stern, and playing games in the cockpit.
For lunch, we put together some baguette sandwiches to fuel up again before the afternoon. Our Charlie rescue divers left early afternoon on the dive boat to continue working on their certifications and training. The rest of us piled into the RIBs and headed over to the Beef Island Cut for a mangrove snorkel. We saw loads of juvenile species and forests of upside down jellyfish, a really cool species of jelly which uses the plankton that lives in its tentacles to photosynthesize energy from the sun, much like a plant does.
Once we got back to the boats, we picked up our Rescue Divers and then started on showers and dinner prep. We had a lovely evening meal of steak burritos before our ASA students came over to the staff boat to take their final exams. Everyone passed with flying colors so we have seven new ASA 101 Basic Keelboat Certified students! Following the exams, the students headed back to boats for boat meeting, and then some rest to be ready for a big day tomorrow at VGYH!
