Good morning, day sixteen! It was hard to believe we were already in the final third of our time together. Today we’d head to Scrub Island. Since our plans yesterday had to be adjusted due to oncoming weather, we were actually quite close to Scrub. We still wanted to get our sail hours in so we planned to simply circumnav Little and Great Camanoe Islands and then end at our destination for the day!

We had the usual colorful assortment of breakfast items and prepared to drop our mooring balls. Once underway, the DJ of the day queued up the most necessary tunes, getting the bass pumping. They put a pep in our step and enhanced the giggle in our wiggle. We settled into our favorite spots on these catamarans and monohulls that felt like “home.”

Appreciating the beauty of the islands that passed by us, the wind was on the slow side which made it a very relaxed sail. Approaching Scrub Island, we observed how full the dock was. It would be a couple hours before there was space for our fleet so we quickly and nimbly picked up mooring balls just outside of the marina. We made good use of this time to make mac n’ cheese. Some chose to add ground beef for an extra nutritional kick, and all were satisfied. As is the routine with any dock day, we gave our boats some extra TLC in the form of scrubbing and washing every surface, inside and out. The heads received the attention they deserve and all scattered items about the boat were put in their proper place. We were given the thumbs up on our hard work and then began to move our boats into the marina. Now that others were out, we were free to invade the premises.

We set up an impressive raft with one boat docked, another tied (with fenders in between) to that boat, and a third tied at the end. We had a couple sets of boats secured in this manner. In order for those on the ends to get to the dock, they had to bob and weave their way through two boats, so there was a constant stream of “Hey!,” and “See ya!” flowing through. What a friendly neighborhood we had found ourselves in.

Scrub is a swanky resort with lovely showers. We enjoyed these immensely. Showers, shop time and the pool took up most of our afternoon. After dinner on home boats, we all gathered at seven o’clock for a social by the pool. The bar had seats right in the water that students could sit on and order a drink from. The waterslide had many visitors blasting down! Aquaman was also projected on the wall for those that felt like chilling. It was a fun time had by all.

The evening was wrapped up as we all returned to home boats, with some of us engaging in a late-night maze to get to our boats. After boat meetings, Mega Fleet happily nestled in their places and closed their eyes for the night.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
