Today, Anna was the skipper of the day, Marc was the navigator and Jenna was the mate. We woke up and ate breakfast which was prepared by Greg and Daniella. After breakfast, we did an amazing job as a team at raising the anchor by hand, and we still managed to leave Salt before the other boats! Our navigator, Marc, lead us to Pirate’s Bight on Norman Island. On the way, Anna’s hat accidentally fell off and we practiced a spontaneous man over board procedure to retrieve it! We also learned about downwind sailing and jibing. Parker was great at controlling the mainsail through the maneuvers.

When we arrived at The Bight, we had lunch, and then the entire crew went diving. Daniella and Jenna continued to work for their Open Water Certification. Meanwhile, Mary, Lindsay and Nes went fun diving. Parker, Greg and Matt saw seven reef sharks and four turtles in one dive! We then all returned to Venture for some nachos and dinner. Afterwards, the Charlie divers went back to the dive boat for a night dive while Marc, Jenna and Daniella went to shore for a social with the rest of the fleets.

We all returned to the boat and had delicious cake which was made by Aoife, Venture‘s mate. Today, our crew did a great job of downwind sailing and man over board. However, we need to work on listening to one another, especially during boat meetings. The miracle moment was when we saw the sharks and ate delicious cake.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
