Our morning began early for a few of our crew. As we were approaching the BVI, we got to watch the sunrise after sailing for about 16 hours. It ultimately took us about 19 hours to go from St. Kitt’s to Virgin Gorda. Our students put their navigation skills to the test at night in the open ocean. During their sail, the crew of Fidji saw a pod of dolphins swim along their boat for 45 minutes!

Once we all arrived at Virgin Gorda safely, we hung out and relaxed for the afternoon so that we could recover from all our overnight work. Students had the opportunity to shower and call home to loved ones. In the late afternoon, both boats dropped their mooring balls and headed to Mountain Point. Mountain Point is located right before the North Sound on Virgin Gorda. It is an anchorage and is also home to the snorkel and dive site, Kodiak Queen. We spent the rest of the day hanging out on Fidji telling stories about our overnight sails and baking cakes! Everyone went to bed tired yet eager to travel to Anegada the next day!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
