We awoke this morning after a heavy night sleep. Lots to catch up on after our passage! Today, Sara (our Sail Caribbean Sailing Director and guest staff member for the down island passage!) had to head back to the office on Tortola. So, we began our day shuttling ashore from the Marigot anchorage and making the trek up the fortress hill overlooking the anchorage. Fort Louis is the most amazing cannon lookout over the white sand beaches and the interior lake of St Martin.

Afterwards, we headed down the hill to eat french pastries and do a spot of shopping before heading back to the boats. This afternoon was also race day!!! Our race rules included each boat beginning the race with a VHF countdown. Race on, and anchors were hauled, sails raised and we got underway for Tintamarre, a beautiful marine reserve island to the east of St Martin. It was a close race culminating in a mooring ball pick up on the west side.  Tonight, we will prepare for tomorrow’s passage with navigation, raising the dinghy, and getting our watch schedule planned. . Here we come St. Barts!!!
