We awoke nicely after a bit of a sleep-in, luxuriating in the extra Z’s after the past few days.  After breakfast, we had a leisurely walk around the town of Marigot and eventually headed up to Fort Louis overlooking the town.  It was fun to have a change from being on sea level and we really enjoyed the vantage point. As we headed back down, we stopped at a French bakery to pick up a few classic French baguettes, fresh out of the oven, for a lunch of sandwiches.

It was then back to boats to prepare for the sail to Ile Fourchue, a small island with a nature reserve off of St. Barth’s.  We passed through a number of squalls underway which made the sail interesting and a good challenge.  We arrived at Ile Fourchue in the late afternoon and prepared for a sunset hike up the island.

Ile Fourchue is an island of rocky hills, so we climbed to the top to watch the sun sink into the horizon over St. Martin.  We then returned to boats again for showers and dinner.  Then the boat was cleaned thoroughly preparing for a cleaning inspection the following morning. The day was brought to a close with a quick boat meeting.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
