Today we woke up bright and early after a rocky night of swells off the coast of Sint Eustatius. We started the morning with a hike! This was by far the most challenging and rewarding hike we have done this far. We hiked all the way to the top of the island. The island is a dormant volcano so the kids were able to see the crater and where the volcano was previously active, but now covered with forestry and ecosystem. It was a 4 mile round trip hike with over 1,200 feet of elevation gain. Seeing the entire island from the top made every step worth it.

We hiked back down and got ready to sail. We sailed down wind at an average of 7 knots to Saba island. The sail was fast and relaxing. The kids made a great lunch of BLT sandwiches with eggs. They sang songs while dangling their feet off the life lines, feeling the ocean breeze in their hair and the salt in their toes. We moored at Saba and had swim time. It was a deep reef but we were able to see some incredible corals at the bottom. The kids decided to make a nice dinner and have a mama mia themed night. They all dressed up and put lights on the bow for all of us to enjoy. They also made a cake and devoured it in 3 minutes. We finished the night with boat meeting under an almost full moon that made the seas shine. Tomorrow will be a fun day in Saba!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
