Echo: Day 5 & 6 – Cooper Island & Overnight Sail
Day 5:

This morning we woke up to the beautiful scene that Little Harbor provides. A small cove sheltered from the wind, making the ocean look like glass and filled with turtles! After breakfast, we went straight onto the Colgates to complete our practical section of our ASA 101 certifications. Many tacks, jibs, and man-over-boards were successfully executed. Once the small boat sailing was finished, we hopped onto our big boats to make our way to explore our next destination…Cooper island.
We explored the majorly self-sustaining island, by tasting the house made coffee, shopping the boutique and swimming at the private beach. Once back on the boats, we discussed navigation rules for our overnight sail, and the types of navigation lights we will have to keep an eye out for.
The day ended with a quiet boat meeting and saying goodnight to the stars yet again.
Day 6:

We woke up at 7 am, Mooring at Cooper Island. We had a breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes, and then plotted our course for scrub island to switch boats. When we arrived, we got lunch at the restaurant and explored the resort.
After lunch, we moved our stuff to the other boat and prepared for our overnight sail. We were all ready to go down island. Then, Mike sent us off and we were on our way to St Maarten!
On the night sail, we told stories, listened to music, and listened to murder podcasts. We saw shooting stars, and we could even see the outline of the Milky Way. It was a memorable night and we all got much closer.
