This morning, the Open water students went diving while the rest of the students motored their boats over to Salt Island. We went on a hike around the salt flats and up the top of the island where there was a beautiful view and a great breeze. We could see the Caribbean islands on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. The students picked up blocks of salt and were even able to taste it!
After the hike, we went back to Cooper Island and made Chicken Caesar wraps for lunch. After lunch, Advanced Oper water and specialty divers continued their certifications and some of the divers saw black tipped reef sharks and an octopus while diving which is rare to see. The rest of the students had the afternoon to do a variety activities ashore. They were able to go paddle boarding, kayaking, sailing on our 26 ft. basic keelboat, Opal Bella, snorkeling, or swimming. They bought drinks and ice cream at the shop and had some free time on the beach. After that, we had a delicious dinner of Steak stir-fry and then some students went on a night dive! The rest of the students went to the restaurant on shore to drink smoothies and have a social with students from all the other programs. It was a busy day with lots of activities and shore time and people were so tired out from the day that they could barely stay awake for boat meeting. Another beautiful day in the BVI!
