Foxtrot Day 11

By wpdev August 15, 2014
Day 11: BEYC –> Long Bay

Today was an adventure as it was challenge day for our boat and for Samba! We had to plan our own wake up, breakfast time and prepare to sail all by ourselves. Violet was the skipper of the day and together we dropped the ball and sailed from The Bitter End yacht club to Trellis Bay, Tortola. We had some difficulty at the start with wind direction and raising our main but with all of us working together we quickly crew in confidence and took control of our boat. Our navigation was spot on, thanks to Olivia and Jonathon and we arrived first, ahead of Samba YAY!!

Abe made us pizza bagels underway and we did a quick clean up before the whole boat went diving for the afternoon. We did a super cool wreck dive of an airplane and did some underwater navigation, it was so much fun!!  After dinner of coconut chicken and rice, the advanced water open divers went on their last dive, it was a nightdive! Danielle and Violet was a bit nervous but came back excited and it was everyone’s favourite dive. David, Carlos, Danielle , Violet, Jonathon and Ryan were especially happy and proud because they completed all dives and were officially Advanced Open water Scuba Divers!

The Day ended with a social  with the other fleet called Chalpha and we made lots of new friends! It was a GREATTT day!!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
