Foxtrot Day 13

By wpdev August 18, 2014

This morning we woke up in a completely different location from where we fell asleep! Our Captains and Mates woke super early and motored us from Long Bay to the Baths while we slept.

Meredith, the “pancake princess” woke up an hour early and made enough chocolate chip pancakes to feed an army with help from Carter. Once we cleaned the boat we swam to shore for an exciting lesson on the formation of the Caribbean and Coral Ecology, given by Marisa and Kate.

As soon as we began our hike through the naturally formed, massive volcanic boulders we were hit by a massive squall bringing rain, thunder and lightning. We took shelter in “The Cathedral” and played “Ah, so, ko” led by Dave. The thunder echoed around the rocks while we played – it was so cool!! The squall passed and we continued on our hike and ended up to a white beach with crystal clear water on the other side, called Devil’s Bay. We snorkeled back to the start of the hike and everyone got a chance to jump into the water off jump rock.

We headed back to the boat for lunch, cleaning and packing. On the way back to Hodges, Lexi shared the captaining responsibilities with Quinton and Kira, who docked us perfectly. At Hodges we enjoyed the real showers and had Rotis of dinner – a Tortolan treat.

We had award night and headed back to our boat for our final boat meeting and airplane letters.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
