This evening, the Ocean students were introduced to their new home, and within the first few hours under the moonlight, everyone could tell — the next 16 days would be extraordinary. With all the likeminded individuals on board acquainting themselves with the new but familiar setting, they began circulating and introducing themselves, and giddily relaying their personal notches within the marine science world already. The crew could already start affirming their built up expectations of their time with us in, on and under the water.

The Ocean students are ready to embrace the next weeks with eyes wide to discover Caribbean creatures, marine inhabitants and science-filled exploits beyond anything they (and ourselves!) can imagine. As the students kick off their summer on this academic exploration, we’re eager and excited to watch and relish alongside them the growth these four fantastic individuals will experience.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
