OLYMPICS DAY!!!! We left the Bight bright and early to begin our sail toward Sandy Cay where the Olympics competition would happen. The sail was extremely entertaining! We got the sails out, jibed a couple of times to get our course toward the Thatch Island Cut, and then the students had some snacks to fuel up while the staff sailed through the cut.

Upon arrival at Sandy Cay, we had a great mooring ball pick up and we were actually a few minutes early. A flag was designed to represent our team, lunch was eaten and then the fun began! All three boats competed in the dizzy fender race, the synchronized swimming contest, and tug of war. All the students had a blast! I think the favorite activity was burying their captains in sand and turning them into a sand sculpture. Our captain was turned into a whale.

After we all got back to boats, we motored over to Cane Garden Bay for some great ice cream. The student did the mooring ball pick up mostly by themselves in preparation for Challenge day tomorrow! It took a couple of tries but they were successfully able to pick up the mooring ball with limited help from the staff. Challenge day starts tomorrow so we are all super excited to see these students step up and take full command of their boats.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
