Stand back. Day 10 of this trip means….CHALLENGE DAY! This means the Tango students are totally in charge of their boat and crew aboard for the whole day; From waking up and getting the schedule from staff boat to completing the all-student mooring ball pick up, they lead everything. In the morning, all the whole fleet came together on the Oil Nut Bay docks for a marine biology lesson about sea turtles. Afterwards, a quick session of water sports took place and then the students created their de-docking plan and we confidently released our ties to the dock to set off for Marina Cay for the afternoon.

Raising sails, preparing lunch, and navigating to our new destination were all independently done by the seasoned Tango crew as we made our way Marina. The mooring ball pick up was successfully done first try which was such a feat! Today’s events really have shown how much sailing knowledge everyone has gained in the short amount of time together.

We spent the afternoon on a snorkel at Diamond Reef where most of the students saw a nurse shark! When we got back to boats, everyone enjoyed chicken burritos and a nightly boat meeting where we reflected on the fun memories we already have created and discussed the new ones to come in the last couple days together.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
