Today started with some delicious loaded scrambled eggs to get the crew fueled up and ready for an active day in the sun. After breakfast, our Open Water students went onto the Sail Caribbean Divers dive boat to work on their scuba confined skills, getting closer and closer to their open water certification dives. The rest of the crews went out in the Sir Francis Drake channel to become more accustomed to our every day sailing skills such as raising the main sail efficiently, tacking, jibing and furling/unfurling the jib.

By lunch, we were back on the ball at Cooper to get ready to go ashore for the afternoon. Students were able to snorkel, kayak, test their balance on stand up paddle boards, and wake board. We even introduced the students to Sail Caribbean’s infamous water-sporting tube — Popparazzi! Students cooled down with homemade ice cream from the Cooper Island coffee shop as well.

Ocean showers and dinner were to follow up our late afternoon back on our home boats before a dessert social ashore with our whole fleet! We celebrated one student’s birthday too! We did so much today; everyone was ready for bed after boat meeting, eager with anticipation for what adventures were to come tomorrow on these beautiful Caribbean waters.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
