Harry Thompson

Fleet Captain

Harry is a senior at The University of Rhode Island where he majors in Marine Affairs and minors
in Oceanography. He grew up in New York, specifically on the North Shore of Long Island where he
started sailing when he was eight years old. Harry then went on to join year round junior
sailing race circuits competing in Optis, 420s, IC Dinghies, and offshore racing events, twice
competing in the IC Dinghy Frostbite National Championships. In previous summers, Harry worked
as a sailing coach at Port Washington Yacht Club before joining the Sail Caribbean team last
summer as a Captain. In addition to sailing, he also enjoys fishing, surfing, diving, and
playing ultimate frisbee. He also has recently spent time abroad in Bonaire diving and
conducting research on Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease. Harry is super psyched to be joining the
Sail Caribbean team again this summer and is excited to continue to share his passion for
sailing!
