Izy Lyon
Born and raised in the Rockies, Izy grew up hiking, climbing, kayaking, and everything else outdoors. As a student at the University of Montana, she decided to share her love of adventure with incoming students and began leading outdoor activities. She fell in love with that role and, after graduating, continued to lead backpacking, hiking, and rock climbing experiences for teens. After so many years in the mountains, she decided to trade the snow in for the sun and moved to the Philippines to do dive training with a marine conservation group. She helped give volunteers the diving techniques they needed to do scientific surveys of reefs and got pretty good at fish ID along the way. Despite the giant spiders in her jungle camp, she couldn’t get enough of the incredible marine environment and continued on to become a dive instructor. This will be Izy’s second summer instructing sailing and scuba diving with teens and she can’t wait to share her favorite ocean facts and marine creatures with students!
