Oxford, Maryland

Emma is from Oxford, Maryland, a small sailing town on the Chesapeake Bay. She has always loved the water and sailing and completed her first sailing trip at three months old aboard her parent’s sailboat in the BVIs. When she was seven, her family moved to New Zealand for two years to build a cruising catamaran. After multiple years of cruising throughout the Pacific, her family completed a world circumnavigation in 2017-19. When not on her family’s boat, Emma taught sailing at a local camp and raced lasers with the Tred Avon Yacht Club in Oxford. Her most recent sailing adventure was an internship aboard SeaLegacy1 in the Bahamas over winter break. She is currently a sophomore biology/marine science major at UNC-Chapel Hill where she competes on the UNC Sailing Team. Her other interests include diving, videography, and hanging out with her family, friends, pets and plants.
