Michael is a long-time ocean lover, coming to us with an MSc in Marine Science from the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia, and before that a BS in Geology and Biology from Hamilton College in upstate NY, where he studied and wrote theses and research in carbonate geochemistry, marine macrophyte physiology and marine geology. He spent time at the USGS Marine Research Center in St. Petersburg, FL as a coral geochemist, where he reconstructed paleo proxy environmental data using isotope and geochemical analysis of corals, and his scientific work spans from the Bahamas Bank and USVI to the Red Sea and Great Barrier Reef. He has also taught marine science at Western Reserve Academy, where he served as dorm master and swim coach. He comes to us as a PADI Divemaster and First Mate and a spirit of adventure, and he can’t wait to share what he’s learned with inspired students!
