Scuba diving is a specialized hobby to begin with – but the ocean is a pretty big place and I’m sure you can imagine there is a lot to see and do! Sail Caribbean offers a variety of summer teen adventure camps and many students are immediately attracted to our scuba diving programs. Our dive company operates in the British Virgin Islands all year long and during the summer you become the top priority of our excellently trained PADI Instructors! So, whether you are joining us to get your beginning Open Water certification or plan to refine your skills with specialty and advanced dives, rest assured that our staff will help you learn how to make the most of every scuba dive. Learn more about the Sail Caribbean Diving Experience.
It may sound crazy, but it is very possible for someone with a basic Open Water (OW) certification to have a more advanced skill set than someone who already has an Advanced OW certification! That’s because there are a couple different ways to approach your diving education. One way is to just move along the progression of certifications from OW directly to Advanced OW, Rescue Diver, Master Diver and on up. The other way is to sign up for Specialty Courses between each of the previously mentioned certifications so you can focus on refining your skills before advancing to the next “level.” Which way is right for you? It depends on your personal learning style and how comfortable you are after getting your OW. If you still feel like a scuba newbie, earning specialties and doing “fun” dives are great practice to prepare you to safely and confidently go diving without an instructor or divemaster to lead you.
So what kind of specialties can you get during a summer with Sail Caribbean? The possibilities will have you itching to gear up and dive back in! Sail Caribbean Divers offer a wide range of exciting PADI options for focused training – collect them all!

Each of these specialties include instruction, study and training to prepare you to practice what you’ve learned on real dives. Additional training, no matter what order you go in, helps you experience and learn how to safely multitask and properly respond to unique situations underwater. If you love diving, you’ll probably want to try all of these! If you have trouble deciding where to start, pick something that will help you really hone your buoyancy early on – scuba diving becomes so natural once you perfect buoyancy control. Plus, think how much better your underwater photos will be when you can effortlessly hover motionless over the ocean floor!
The ocean is always full of surprises and excitement, so get out there and dive safely and responsibly! Make sure to stay within the limits of your personal training and comfort, and seek additional instruction before attempting more advanced or technical dives. If you have any questions about our advanced teen scuba camps or the courses we offer, please don’t hesitate to contact us!
