Sawyer Uecke
Hello all! My name is Sawyer, and I am an avid world traveler and adventurer. This past season, I sailed from Jamaica throughout the Eastern Caribbean on a 42-foot ketch and fell in love with the courage, endurance, autonomy, and freedom that sailing encourages.
Being a student at Tufts University presented many opportunities to work, volunteer, and study abroad, later preparing me to be an international catalyst for positive change upon graduating in 2021. I love sharing my passion for global engagement with the world by being a youth facilitator.
My goal this summer is simple: I want to intertwine my newfound passion for sailing with my prior experience leading youth on international adventure and service trips. This way, I can support young people in having enriching and life-changing experiences, often outside of their comfort zone, expanding their worldview and acceptance of themselves and those around them.
In my free time, I enjoy a “can’t put this down” book, a warm, well-deserved meal after a long hike, and the occasional, seasonal adventure sport like surfing or snowboarding.
