Waves rolled through the soft curve of the island where we were anchored, rocking us awake to greet the day that lay ahead of us.  This morning, the divers left us to complete their final open water training dives at the wreck of the Rhone, while the rest of us sailed altogether on Venture to Trellis Bay on Beef Island. We found that we had some extra time to kill on the sail, so we elected to circumnavigate one of the smaller islands in the area.

In the afternoon, when the divers met up with us ashore, they came with stories to tell of baby turtles, gigantic barracuda, and awe of the wreck that lay on the bottom of the ocean. We all celebrated together over pizza and sodas and then loaded up into a truck to go for a tour of the island, all the while making our way towards Aragorn’s Farm – a local, terraced farm with a focus and attention on sustainability.

Here, we participated in community service by helping to manage the garden beds and by learning about the ways in which food contributes to sustainability.

Upon arriving back to our boats, we ended our night with a quiet dinner and evening that looked out over one of the most stunning sunsets we’ve seen yet!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
