Foxtrot 2 & Sierra 2 Day 15: Proactive Environmental Conservation Spirit

Today started off with a chance for students to sleep in a bit and then enjoy a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs and bacon. After a relaxing morning, everyone went to shore and had some time to explore while visiting the variety of local stores and do some shopping and perusing.

Following free time, the students reconvened over lunch at Pusser’s restaurant on shore. We were overjoyed to share the meal with our friends on the the Foxtrot and Sierra adventure. In the afternoon, a storm passed through so our students stayed on shore and had more time to explore the shops. Board games were brought to shore and everyone gathered in the upper floor of the restaurant to relax and enjoy each other’s company as we laughed the afternoon away.

Not letting the rain ruin our fun, we set up an interactive lesson about water runoff with a 3D model built out of backpacks and tarps. This model prompted a passionate conversation about the effect of pollution runoff and how we can all help prevent pollution runoff in our own communities near and far. The staff were delighted with all the Foxtrot and Sierra students who showed overwhelming interest in environmental conservation dialogue.

Later in the afternoon, the rain was no more and everyone retreated back to their boats to swim and hang out with their crews.  We had a dinner of Philly Cheese Steak Wraps and played games on board into the evening.  We played spirited rounds of the game Hot Seat at our evening boat meeting and slowly powered down to rest up for our voyage tomorrow.
