B-STAFF TRAINING – DAY 8

Today we woke up at my favorite spot that I have been to on the fleet so far, Little Harbor. Its name may be true for the size, but the magic that happens there is far from small. From the anchorage, you get some of the best views of the main island for both sunset and sunrise. The water is crystal clear, so much so that even at 40 feet of depth, you can see straight to the bottom.

We had a later morning than usual, and the extra 30 minutes of sleep can make all the difference on the long days of staff training. We had originally planned to do a hike around to the other side of the island, but something stopped us in our tracks. Two dolphins started swimming right up alongside us, a mother and her son; he was probably less than a year old. We almost didn’t believe it, but the boy started playing, swimming up and down, and greeting everyone he saw. All of us were in a state of elated shock and couldn’t help but let out the most joyous laughs and smiles.

After the big happenings of the morning, I went out on the Colgate 26′ with a great bunch of people. It was even some of their first times being on a smaller sailboat. All this before noon! The rest of the day was spent sailing to Trellis with the office girls joining us for the sail. Overall, probably one of my favorite days I’ve had in the BVI!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
