DELTA – Days 7-9

Hi Delta fleet families! This is Wren from Maora. Days 7-9 have been wonderful, and our fleet is bonding so much. On day 7, those on the boats left the dock at Nanny Cay and sailed to Little Harbor, while the Open Water divers got their certifications. The three Delta boats anchored at Little Harbor (the process took Maora 2 hours, but it was worth it) and admired the clear water. Once anchored, we learned some important sailing information in stations across the boats. At night, we watched a beautiful sunset and tried to keep the birds from eating our fruit. We went to bed with so much appreciation for the natural beauty of the BVI.

After sleeping in till 7:30, we ate breakfast and the divers were shuttled to Deadman’s Chest, a wonderful and historic dive site. The dives were challenging due to the strong current, but we saw lots of coral and sea life. Meanwhile, those not diving competed in a fun scavenger hunt. In the afternoon, we all up-anchored and sailed to Trellis Bay. There, we enjoyed food from the restaurant, bought T-shirts, and stretched our legs on land. After eating a delicious, crew-cooked chicken stir fry, we settled in for a QNOB (quiet night on board).

The next day, we woke up on day 9 energized and ready for the 3.5 hour sail to Virgin Gorda. We on Maora had the pleasure of sailing on FLX and Beau Budd for the long sail. Nonetheless, all boats docked successfully at Bitter End Yacht Club. We took full advantage of the beach, ate food, sailed on the Hobie Cats, and even took land showers. After some fire-baked potatoes, we all gathered on Beau Budd to celebrate lovely Rollin’s 18th birthday! We had a fun night of brownies, music, and MOOING (inside joke). This trip has already been amazing, and we can’t wait to go down island to the French and Dutch Caribbean tomorrow!
