Hi! I’m Reagan, a mate on Betty’s Dream, and here’s our Day 12 recap!

We woke up bright and early at 7 a.m. to start breakfast prep. Arden and Liza laid out rice cakes with Nutella and fruit, while Gavin and Ryson were picked up to continue their rescue diver certifications on land. After breakfast and cleanup, Arden, Rohin, Kadence, and Noah were picked up by the dive boat for a fun dive, and Vera hopped into the Colgate to sail around.

Around 9:30, the rest of us took a stroll on Scrub to find a secret pool and play some games. It was a fun hike and a great time to chill. Afterward, we hung out on the dock, filled up water, and got ready to set sail to the Bitter End Yacht Club in the North Sound.

Rohin dedocked the boat like a pro, and we jumped into our sail positions: Kadence and Oscar were monkeys, Vera handled the main halyard, Hailey worked the main sheet, and Arden was in charge of reefing lines and the jib sheet. The sail went super smoothly while the girls made bracelets down below. For lunch underway, Noah whipped up chicken Caesar wraps — so good!

After lunch, we had a points of sail lesson where we learned how to trim the sails and find the wind, then sailed for another hour before preparing for the mooring ball pickup. Oscar was the hooker, Liza and Hailey threaded, and Kadence spotted. The kids did the entire pickup without any help from staff and nailed it on the first try!

Once the engines were off, we dove in for swimmie fun time and ocean showers. Later, the Sierra students came over to our boat for a squid dissection led by Mer!

For dinner, Kadence and Hailey made fire taco salad, followed by boat clean. At boat meeting, we went over tomorrow’s schedule and finished the day with digestive cookies.
